SBD-5 Dauntless Wood Model Reviews
Designed in 1938 and accepted by the U.S. Navy in February 1939, six months before the start of World War II, the Douglas SBD (for Scout Bomber Douglas) represented prewar technology. Fortunately, its design was adaptable to changes dictated by combat experience, such as increased armor protection for the crew and self-sealing fuel tanks. Above all, it was a compact, rugged dive-bomber that could take a lot of punishment. 1:32 scale. Made from kiln-dried Philippine mahogany. Model stand included (stand style may vary from photograph). Length: 12.5". Wingspan: 15.5". Made in Philippines.
